Restoration of Cello

I have recently inherited an old cello that my great grandfather made. It is in very rough condition. I would like to have it restored for sentimental reasons. What is your process for doing these repairs? I realize the cost will be more than it is worth.

I would need to see the cello, just stop by during my open hours and I'll take a look. Possibly it's not as bad as you think.
