Cracked and Hacked Bow

This bow was previously broken at the end, it was in rough shape. The previous repair was done by cutting a grove around the stick near the button. Also the frog mortice was lengthened so the frog could slide back. Most likely because the hair had stretched out too much, they thought it would be a good idea to carve the mortice longer, ugh.

  • Clean and Reglue: Cleaned out the old cracks and reglued.
  • Mortise Fill: Filled the lengthened mortise.
  • Slot Repair: Filled the slot at the end of the stick.
  • Stick Wrap: Wrapped the end of the stick with clear, which strengthened the stick and somewhat hid the hacked groove.
  • Custom Wrap: Wrapped with my variation of whalebone wrap and lizard skin grip.
