Gosparlin Violin Bridge Blank – A Patented Alternative Bridge Design from 1930

John Gosparlin received a U.S. patent for his bridge design in 1930, proposing an alternative to the traditional Stradivari bridge with the goal of increasing volume and projection. The design attracted enough attention that later bridge inventors specifically referenced the Gosparlin bridge in their own patents, comparing its emphasis on power with the sweeter tone traditionally associated with the Stradivari pattern.
